We at Golden Wings Aviaries, hatch our chickens in small quantities to ensure total care and quality.
All babies are hatched from our own flock, carefully selected for their kind and sweet nature's, making them a fantastic breed to keep in back gardens and around children.
The silkie and Showgirl are a happy and friendly breed of chicken whom do not fly or attempt to get over fences, they can be taught to use a ladder or ramp but their docile nature may mean that you need to lift them and have a cheeky cuddle before bed.
Thes babies are silkie and Showgirl with a possibility of satin and we have a variety of colours available for just a short period only.
All of our chickens, including the babies are fed on the very best, which includes Garvo 1075, Garvo 1055, Garvo layers pellets, mixed budgie seed, mixed corn, fresh fruits and veggies, calcium, iodine and B12 supplements to ensure total health in adults and chicks.
Our adults are also treated for parasites every month with Exzolt, ivermectin or moxidectin.
They have a large coop area and free range around the garden where they also pop into the house for treats and fuss. They really are an absolute pleasure and I'm so excited to be able to offer babies of this quality and standard.
When collecting babies, you're more than welcome to visit the adult flock and see their living conditions as well as the quality of the birds themselves.
Babies hatched on 11th May 2024 and are all eating, drinking, fluffy and ready to leave for their new homes.
They will need to be kept on heat, under a heat lamp or plate, until 3 weeks of age, where they can then be moved into indoor housing without supplemental heat.
Once babies are fully feathered and the weather is warm outside (no less than 18 degrees) they can be acclimated to outside housing.
Please note that due to the breed, all babies are unsexed and genders can only be identified via DNA sexing.
At around 4-6 months is the average time for genders to show, so please don't ask for hens only, as I cannot determine males or females. You will be taking a chance on either gender and the price reflects this.
